A 73-year-old man is going to prison after being accused of raping his partner’s daughter for 14 years, Oregon officials said.

In June 2024, Pablo Salazar-Ramirez punched his partner in the face, prompting the woman’s daughter to call 911, according to a Sept. 4 news release by the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.

When officers arrived, the woman’s daughter, who was a minor at the time, told a female deputy that Salazar-Ramirez had been sexually abusing her, prosecutors said.

Officials said the girl told deputies she didn’t disclose the abuse out of fear of Salazar-Ramirez’s threats.

Although Deputy District Attorney Katharine Semple requested a 30-year sentence, the defense team requested a 10-year sentence due to Salazar-Ramirez’s age and health conditions, the release said.

Salazar-Ramirez was charged with rape, sexual abuse, extortion, coercion, unlawful use of a weapon and assault constituting domestic violence, prosecutors said.

He was sentenced to 25 years in prison and must register as a sex offender, officials said.

Marion County is about an 80-mile drive southeast from Portland.
