Teen says he stabbed man to protect mom, but mom has different story, PA cops say
A teenager accused of repeatedly stabbing a man said he was protecting his mother, but she told investigators a different story, Pennsylvania police say.
Police say the 17-year-old’s mom and her boyfriend were arguing in bed at a Newtown Township home on Aug. 22 when the teen entered the bedroom, got into a confrontation with the boyfriend, and sprayed him in the face with a can of pesticide, then repeatedly stabbed him with a kitchen knife, Patch reported.
The mom stepped in, stopped the attack and took the knife from her son, the outlet reported. The teen left the home but was picked up by police several blocks away when he flagged down a responding officer, according to officials.
The boyfriend was taken to a hospital with six knife wounds, one of which was near his right eye, police told the Bucks County Courier Times.
According to police, the teen told officers the boyfriend had been violent in the past, and that on the night of the stabbing, he was drunk, fighting his mother, and tried to choke him, NewtownPANow.com reported. He said, “I will do anything to protect my mom,” according to police.
But the mother told investigators that, during the attack, her son said he had been wanting to stab him for some time, the outlet reported.
She and her boyfriend had been arguing about her son because her boyfriend doesn’t like him, she told police, the Bucks County Courier Times reported.
The teen is being charged as an adult and was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault, the outlet reported.
Newtown is a roughly 30-mile drive northeast from Philadelphia.
