Missing woman’s remains found in storage locker a year after vanishing, OR cops say
A missing woman’s remains were discovered in a storage locker in Oregon over a year after she vanished in Washington, police said.
Someone reported a “suspicious circumstance” July 29 at a storage unit, The Dalles Police Department said in an Aug. 25 news release.
Investigators found human remains in a storage box within a unit, police said.
The remains were identified as Meihong He, 39, who went by “Kiki,” police said.
Meihong was last seen in Glenwood, Washington, on May 25, 2024, police said. Glenwood is in Klickitat County.
Originally from China, she lived in Butte, Montana, but she was staying with her fiance in Glenwood, police said.
Her fiance had dropped her off to go fishing with her friends near Underwood, police said.
Police said they arrested a 59-year-old person of interest on Aug. 25 from The Dalles “who also spent time in Klickitat County, Washington.”
The man was arrested in Larimer County, Colorado, on a warrant accusing him of failing to register as a sex offender, police said.
His extradition to Oregon is pending, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case can contact the police at 541-296-2613 or 541-296-2233. The police can also be emailed at Policecontact@ci.the-dalles.or.us or an online tip can be submitted.
The Dalles is off the Columbia River, which divides Oregon from Washington. It’s an 85-mile drive east from Portland.
