A FedEx driver accused of swiping lottery tickets and trying to redeem prizes is now facing charges, South Carolina authorities said.

The 33-year-old Charlotte man is charged with intent to defraud, counterfeit game tickets in York County, according to an Aug. 11 news release from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The FedEx driver was supposed to deliver the South Carolina Education Lottery tickets to a retailer, but he took some scratch-offs for himself and tried to claim the prizes at a Circle K in Fort Mill on June 27, investigators said.

“Surveillance footage confirms the defendant, while employed as a delivery driver for FedEx, gave the clerk tickets to scan at the terminal,” law enforcement wrote in an arrest warrant.

Investigators said when they interviewed him, he told them he stole some of the tickets during transit.

Records show he was arrested Aug. 7 and bonded out.

Fort Mill is a suburb of Charlotte.
