A man shot a person who knocked on his door because he was “angry” he was woken up, Kentucky authorities said.

Michael Rodgers, 62, is now charged with second-degree assault following the July 20 incident at a home in Louisville, court records show.

Rodgers was sleeping just before 5 p.m. when he woke up to someone he knew knocking on his door, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.

“Bothered” by being awakened, Rodgers “immediately” shot the other man in the leg, police said.

Police said the victim will require surgery.

Interviewed by police after the shooting, Rodgers said he “overreacted” in the incident, as the victim did not pose a threat to him.

Rodgers was jailed on a $100,000 bond, court records show.

His attorney attempted to lower the bond, but a judge refused the request because of “concern for others in the community,” WLKY reported.
