Bikers drag man from bar and beat him, leading to sprawling gunfight, VA cops say
A dramatic 1 a.m. gunfight at a hookah lounge erupted when a motorcycle gang gathered to physically assault a man, according to investigators in Northern Virginia.
Nineteen people are being sought for charges including “aggravated malicious wounding,” the Prince William County Police Department reported in a July 16 news release.
The suspects are affiliated with “the Wheels of Soul motorcycle gang,” and not all have been taken into custody, police said.
The shootout happened April 13 at the Babylon Café in Woodbridge. However, arrests did not start until July 16, when federal, state and local law enforcement officers began executing search warrants in seven Virginia cities and two sites in Philadelphia.
Numerous law enforcement offices have been involved in the roundup, police said.
“The investigation revealed the victim, (a) 42-year-old man, had been forcibly removed from the establishment to the parking lot by members of the gang where he was then assaulted, sustaining significant bodily injuries,” police said.
“After the assault, members of the gang remained congregated in the parking lot, when an acquaintance of the initial victim confronted the group, leading to exchange of gunfire resulting in over 80 rounds being fired.”
Police officers arrived just after 1 a.m to find cars riddled with bullet holes and one man with non-life threatening injuries “from the physical altercation.”
“While on scene, a second man, 41 years old, arrived at an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his arm,” police said. “Both men were uncooperative with police regarding the suspect(s) involved and what led up to the altercation and subsequent shooting.”
Identities of the victims have not been released and investigators have not said what motivated the beating.
Woodbridge is about a 20-mile drive southwest from Washington, D.C.
