A missing 3-year-old was found safe in Tennessee after he was said to have been kidnapped by his father following a double murder, according to Alabama police.

The toddler was with his father, Aaron Dontay Williams, 41, whose car was located in Giles County, Tennessee, the Auburn Police Department said in a Friday, July 11, news release.

Williams was taken into custody at about 7 a.m. Friday, and the child is being reunited with family members, police said.

The search for the father and son began after Williams’ wife and her child were found dead at their home in Alabama during a July 10 welfare check, police said.

Family members asked officers to check on the household after not seeing them for a few days, WAFF reported.

Authorities believed the toddler was with his father and in “imminent danger,” according to police.

Williams is being held in the Giles County Jail on a warrant of arrest for crime in another state, according to jail records.

Auburn is about a 110-mile drive southeast from Birmingham.
