Customer fires gun as McDonald’s employee stabs co-worker to death, MI cops say
A McDonald’s worker is accused of fatally stabbing a fellow employee after an argument, and an armed customer intervened, Michigan police say.
The stabbing happened at about 8 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at a McDonald’s in the Detroit-area suburb of Eastpointe, police said in a news release.
“There was a dispute between co-workers and one of them was sent home early,” according to police. However, investigators say “the employee returned a short time later armed with a knife” and attacked the co-worker she had argued with.
The victim of the stabbing was a manager at the McDonald’s, WDIV reported.
A customer waiting at the drive-thru window saw what was happening, pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the air in an attempt to stop the attack, WJBK reported.
The woman tried to flee the scene, but the customer caught and detained her until officers arrived, according to police.
The employee who was stabbed died at a hospital, police said.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case to determine charges, police said.
