Man accused of driving intoxicated hits young siblings, killing one, NH cops say
A New Hampshire man accused of driving while intoxicated struck two young siblings, killing one and injuring another, police said.
Justin LaClair, 23, is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless conduct and conduct after an accident, the Manchester Police Department said in a June 15 news release.
Officers responded to reports of the crash at about 4 p.m. June 12, where they found two children with life-threatening injuries, police said in a separate news release. They were taken to a hospital.
The youngest of the siblings involved in the crash — an 11-month-old girl — died at a Boston hospital, police said and WMUR reported. Her 11-year-old sister is recovering at the hospital, according to the outlet and police.
According to an investigation, LaClair struck the siblings, drove away and was later involved in another crash, police said.
Officers saw LaClair walk away from the scene of the second crash too, according to police.
The other driver involved was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Manchester is about a 50-mile drive northwest from Boston.
