An Illinois chiropractor previously accused of sexually abusing two teen patients is now accused of assaulting three additional people, Illinois prosecutors said.

Murtaza Hameed, 46, was arraigned on 19 additional charges on June 10, the DuPage County State’s Attorney said in a news release.

A 17-year-old boy was sexually abused while receiving treatment in Hameed’s Aurora office Jan. 11, according to prosecutors.

The teen came home after the appointment and told his dad what happened, prosecutors said in a May 12 release when initial charges were filed. The parent then called police.

Investigators then learned that a 16-year-old patient was also sexually abused by the chiropractor in 2016, prosecutors said.

Officials said the three additional victims range in age from under age 18 to adults. The alleged incidents took place between July 2016 and January 2025, officials said.

“The courage displayed by the victims in this case to come forward is inspiring,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. “I commend all the victims in this very upsetting case for their strength and conviction to come forward and stand for what is right.”

On June 10, Hameed was arraigned on multiple charges, including:

  • One count of criminal sexual assault

  • Three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse

  • Eight counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse

  • One count of attempted criminal sexual assault

  • Six counts of misdemeanor battery

Hameed was initially charged with criminal sexual assault, five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one count of attempted criminal sexual assault and one count of misdemeanor battery, the state’s attorney’s office said.

During a May 12 court appearance, Hameed was denied pre-trial release and remained in custody until June 10, prosecutors said. He was released after his second arraignment and placed on home confinement with electronic monitoring, prosecutors said.

Hameed is scheduled to appear in court July 8.

Aurora is about a 40-mile drive west from Chicago.
