Large dog attacks mother and child then goes after man, Texas police say
Three people in Texas were hurt after they were attacked by a large dog.
At around 4:30 p.m. March 3, officers in Pleasanton were called for reports of a dog attack, according to a Facebook post by the police department.
Police were told a mother and child were being attacked by a large dog.
As officers were on the way to the scene, they received calls stating the dog was now attacking a man, who was on the ground bleeding heavily, police said.
When police arrived, they found the man being attacked by the dog. The man was on the ground and losing a lot of blood, according to police.
“Our officers immediately took action and fired one shot when it was safe to do so to prevent any further injury to the male,” police said. “When the dog was shot it let go of the male and began running towards other people in the area.”
Police tried to stop the dog with “less lethal measures” since there were people close by. However, that did not work and officers shot the dog to stop it from attacking further, the post said.
The three people were taken to a hospital, all in various conditions.
McClatchy News reached out to police on March 4 to find out more information on where the dog came from and its condition but did not immediately hear back.
Pleasanton is about a 35-mile drive south from San Antonio.
