Mom caught on video shoving 8-year-old son through store glass door, Michigan cops say
A Michigan woman was arrested after police say surveillance video captured her shoving her 8-year-old son through a store’s glass door.
Monroe Police were called around 4:15 p.m. Jan. 7 for reports of a woman who had broken a business’ front door, according to a Facebook post by police.
When police arrived, the woman was gone, but store surveillance video showed the incident, officials said.
The woman was shopping in the store with sixl children near a counter. She was seen communicating with a child, later identified as her 8-year-old son, police said.
She then grabbed the boy by his head and neck area and pushed him onto the countertop, lifting his feet off the ground, according to police.
The woman then let the boy loose and pushed him away, officials said. She tried again to grab his face but the boy turned away from her.
“Moments later, the female can be observed pushing her son’s entire body into a glass door, causing the glass to break,” police said.
Officers found the woman in a nearby business and she told them her actions were because of “her son’s behavior,” according to police.
Child Protective Services was called and the boy and five other children were taken into protective custody before finding other family members to care for them.
The woman was charged with child abuse/cruelty toward a child. Police have not released her identity.
Monroe is about a 40-mile drive southwest of Detroit.
