Dog one day from being put down was saved, NC rescue says. Now, he needs a home
A “sweet” dog was saved one day before a shelter was going to put him down, rescuers said.
Now, Bill the pup is getting a fresh start with the Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina.
“Despite his uncertain past, Bill is full of love, potential, and an easygoing charm that shines through his playful spirit,” the Raleigh-area animal organization wrote Dec. 16 in a Facebook post. “Bill is an ideal companion for an active family who enjoys outdoor time.”
Bill is up for adoption after a journey that started in October. He had been living in a North Carolina shelter, where he “was on the euthanasia list and his life was at risk,” rescuers told McClatchy News via email.
“He arrived as a stray and was sadly never reclaimed,” the Triangle Beagle Rescue wrote. “As the shelter reached maximum capacity, Bill was placed on their ‘last day’ list, but TBR stepped in just in time to give him a second chance.”
At the rescue, Bill has become known as a well-behaved dog with a “heart as big as his love for toys.” He’s about 2 years old and “relishes playtime” with other pups.
“Bill’s ultimate joy, however, is cuddle time with his people,” the rescue wrote. “A true snuggle bug, he loves burrowing all the way under blankets for the coziest naps. He’s searching for a family who can provide plenty of love, playtime, and, of course, a few extra blankets.”
As of Dec. 17, Bill was in foster care as he waited for a new owner. Details about the rescue’s adoption process can be found at tribeagles.org.
