An Arizona man filmed himself threatening to kidnap and kill Donald Trump, and saying the president-elect’s family was “going to die,” in a video he posted to his Facebook account, according to federal court documents.

Manuel Tamayo-Torres was arrested four days later near San Diego on Nov. 25, court records in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California show.

“I’m going to (expletive) bury you myself, (Trump). If they give me a chance to bury you, to kill you, murder you, (Trump), torture you, and break you in the system,” Tamayo-Torres said in a lengthy rant shared online on Nov. 21, according to a criminal complaint, which was filed in Arizona.

About a week earlier, Tamayo-Torres posted a video while holding what looked like a white “AR15-style rifle with a 30-round magazine inserted into it” and threatened to shoot Trump on Nov. 13, the criminal complaint says.

According to the filing, Manuel Tamayo-Torres has shared videos discussing Trump on a “near-daily basis.”

Trump is referred to as “Individual 1” — “a former President and current President-elect” — in the filing.

Now, Tamayo-Torres is charged with making threats to the president-elect and making false statements during the purchase of a firearm, records show.

The Federal Defenders of San Diego’s office has been appointed to represent him and didn’t immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment Nov. 27.

During the investigation into Tamayo-Torres, authorities learned he has a prior criminal history.

In 2003, he was convicted of assault with great bodily injury in San Diego, according to the criminal complaint, which says he was sentenced to six years in prison as a result.

Tamayo-Torres is also prohibited from contacting his ex-wife after she served a protection order against him in Arizona in July 2023, the criminal complaint says.

Man attended Trump’s campaign rally

In various videos Tamayo-Torres posted about Trump, he accused Trump and his family of “kidnapping and sex-trafficking his children,” according to the criminal complaint.

Tamayo-Torres recorded one of these videos while attending Trump’s campaign rally at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, on Aug. 23, the criminal complaint says.

Before this rally, Trump survived a shot to his ear in a failed assassination attempt during another campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, The Associated Press reported.

Exactly one year before Tamayo-Torres posted the video threatening to shoot Trump, he visited Shooters World, a firearm business and shooting range in Arizona on Nov. 13, 2023, according to the criminal complaint.

During the visit, he tried to buy a gun and lied on a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives form when he said he hadn’t been convicted of a felony and didn’t have a court order “restraining him from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner,” the criminal complaint says.

He also tried to buy a gun two days later at the same business, the criminal complaint says.

Convicted felons aren’t allowed to possess firearms, according to the Justice Department.

The government has motioned to detain Tamayo-Torres, according to court records, which show he’s due in court Nov. 29 for a detention hearing.
