Shelter dog survived rattlesnake and ‘hurricane-induced flight.’ Now pup needs a home
A dog in Fort Worth is ready to settle down into a new home after living an entire lifetime in just his two years in this world.
Pelican is known as a gentle cuddler who prefers curling up with his person on a cold night rather than rolling around in the mud, according to the Humane Society of North Texas. And we’re guessing it has to do with his torrid past.
“Meet Pelican, a lab mix who’s survived more drama than an entire season of ‘The Young and the Restless,’” the shelter said in a Nov. 17 Facebook post. “This guy’s seen it all—a rattlesnake bite in Florida and a hurricane-induced flight to Texas.”
But none of that has affected his ability to love … or chill.
“He’s one of the survivors we welcomed when Alaqua Animal Refuge stepped in to rescue pets from Florida, and now he’s chillin’ at the Humane Society of North Texas, waiting for his forever home,” the shelter continued.
“With strength, determination, and a cool vibe that screams superhero, Pelican is ready to be your ultimate sidekick. He’s mastered basic commands, has a heart of gold, and let’s face it—he’s just a really awesome mutt with a story and a purpose.”
According to his pet profile, Pelican is shy (but it’s considered part of his “charm”) with an agile mind and a calm disposition.
“Pelican’s intelligence, gentleness, and love for hugs make him a wonderful pet. He’s ready to find a forever home where he can share his love and warmth,” his profile says.
