Couple’s reconciliation sex in public prompts unusual plea, GA cops say. ‘Get a room’
One small town in North Georgia has issued a very unusual plea on social media for estranged couples.
The demand was posted with good reason after a reconciling couple was caught having sex in full view of ... well, just about everyone, Lavonia police said in an Oct. 22 Facebook post. Lavonia is a town of 2,179 people, about a 95-mile drive northeast from Atlanta.
“The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze us, so we have some more helpful hints for those of you visiting our wonderful city,” police wrote in the post.
“If you decide to exit I-85 (GA exit 173) with your life partner while on a road trip to reconcile your relationship, please don’t ‘reconcile’ in the grass between McDonald’s and RaceWay. Yes, it happened, and in broad daylight. ... Get a room. Go home.”
The incident came to light around 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, when someone called police to report indecent exposure outside the RaceWay gas station near the interstate.
Officers arrived to find a South Carolina woman and her Georgia lover tussling in the grass — britches down, according to an incident report.
Both were cuffed, arrested and charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct, officials said.
“Don’t reconcile in broad daylight in the grass beside the street,” police said. “If you’re stupid enough to do this, please don’t stop in Lavonia.”
The post had racked up more than 1,000 reactions and comments as of Oct. 25, including a lot of jokes about biting fire ants possibly being the reason their pants were down.
“Never knew Lavonia had so much action,” one woman wrote on the police department’s Facebook page.
“Imagine ordering your Big Mac and look over to see that,” another posted.
