Worker dies after he falls off truck’s crane at employee appreciation event, WI cops say
A fall from a boom truck killed a 59-year-old man and injured a 62-year-old woman, Wisconsin deputies said.
The truck, equipped with a hydraulic crane, was part of an employee appreciation day demonstration on Oct. 19 in Janesville, Rock County deputies said in a news release.
The two fell about 10 feet when the crane was extended on one of the trucks during the demonstration at the county fairgrounds, according to deputies. They were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
The 59-year-old man, an employee of the company putting on the event, died at the hospital. The woman was treated for her injuries.
Deputies said the man’s name would be released at a later date.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating, according to deputies.
Janesville is about a 40-mile drive southeast from Madison.
