A teenage boy helping his family herd cattle died after his ATV rolled over onto him, Utah police told news outlets.

The 14-year-old was fatally crushed in the accident at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in Tooele County, the Grantsville Police Department told KUTV.

The boy lost control of the vehicle, which tipped over, police told KSTU.

A passenger on the ATV was thrown clear, but the 14-year-old became trapped underneath the vehicle, police told KTVX. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen’s identity has not been released.

Grantsville is about a 35-mile drive southwest from Salt Lake City.
