An argument between two teens turned deadly when a 14-year-old shot a 16-year-old boy several times, Texas police said.

The 14-year-old boy was taunting the older teen about his mother, who had recently died, when the two got into a physical fight, according to KSAT and KENS.

The 14-year-old pulled out a gun during the fight and shot Joel Castillo several times late Wednesday, Oct. 9, according to San Antonio police and the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Castillo was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries less than two hours later, officials said.

The 14-year-old fled the scene, police said, but was later taken into custody.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
