A Florida woman’s body has been recovered from the Lake of the Ozarks two days after she jumped in the water and disappeared, Missouri authorities said.

Kendra L. Potter, 42, of Englewood, Florida, jumped from a moving pontoon boat Oct. 5 around the 45-mile mark of the main channel and “failed to resurface,” according to an incident report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Potter was not wearing a life jacket when she jumped off the boat, authorities said.

Authorities found Potter’s body Oct. 7, according to an announcement on X, formerly Twitter, by Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F.

A 45-year-old man from Florida was driving the boat when Potter “voluntarily jumped,” according to the incident report.

The Lake of the Ozarks is considered one of the most dangerous lakes in the United States due to a high number of drowning and boating accidents, the Kansas City Star previously reported.

Lake of the Ozarks is about a 150-mile drive southeast from Kansas City.
