Firefighters find body with gunshot wound while extinguishing house fire, Ohio cops say
A “violent suspect” has been arrested months after firefighters found a body while putting out a blaze at an Ohio home, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
An autopsy determined the victim inside the Cleveland home on May 8 had a gunshot wound to their head, officials said.
Police later accused 37-year-old Michael Hurley of shooting the victim in the head and setting them on fire, the U.S. Marshals Service said in an Oct. 4 news release.
Nearly four months later, the U.S. Marshals Service’s violent fugitive task force found Harley, who was wanted on accusations of aggravated murder, in a Cleveland Heights residence, officials said.
Officials did not identify the victim.
Cleveland Heights is about an 8-mile drive northeast from downtown Cleveland.
