A tractor-trailer crash created an odd scene when part of the big rig got stuck upright against an overhead sign on a Virginia interstate.

The 62-year-old driver has been charged with reckless driving, Virginia State Police said.

No injuries were reported, according to police.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Sept. 5, a raised tractor-trailer bed hit an overhead traffic sign on Interstate 64 near the Interstate 295 exit, then the bed separated from the cab and remained in the air, police said.

The collision bent the sign’s support posts, severely damaging them down to the base on the right side, photos show.

The crash and the backup were visible on traffic camera feeds from the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The truck was separated from the sign at about 11 a.m., officials said.

At about 11 a.m., the sign came down and was separated from the bed, officials said.

The crash shut down the westbound lanes of the interstate for more than five hours and created six miles of delays at the diversion point, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

At 4:40 p.m., officials announced the left lane was open.

The crash happened about 12-miles east from downtown Richmond near mile marker 200.
