Officials in Texas say an 8-year-old boy has been found dead after he went missing.

The boy, named Ryan Akagbusi, was last seen around 4:30 a.m. Aug. 24 in Richmond, according to a Facebook post by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and local news outlets.

Officials said Ryan was nonverbal.

Ryan’s mother said surveillance video showed him leaving his bedroom around 4:56 a.m., KTRK reported. Surveillance video from a neighbor also showed the boy walking down a nearby street about 30 minutes later.

“My friends and family are here, the whole neighborhood. Police are here,” Ryan’s mother told KHOU during a search for him. “We’ve had K9. We’ve had helicopter. We’ve had drones go around. We’ve gone door to door. Everybody is here. The whole Lakemont is here.”

On the morning of Aug. 25, Ryan’s body was found in a lake near where he was last seen, according to officials.

Richmond is about a 30-mile drive southwest of Houston.
