A missing 13-year-old boy’s body was discovered days after he was last seen playing in an Oregon river, police said.

Gregorio Maximiano-Solano, of California, disappeared after 5 p.m. July 7 from the Willamette River near Riverview Park, the Independence Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Rescuers, including the U.S. Coast Guard, searched for Gregorio with divers and flyover efforts, police said.

When search teams couldn’t find him after 24 hours, they began looking for his body with patrol boats, police said.

Gregorio’s body was found at Keizer Rapids Park, police said July 11.

Keizer Rapids Park is about 20 miles northeast from Riverview Park, where he was last seen.

His family was in Oregon to harvest berries, according to a GoFundMe.

“Gregorio was a good child who has always been very helpful to his family,” the fundraising page said. “Always willing to help around the house and watch his siblings so his parents could work.”

Independence is about a 15-mile drive southwest from Salem.
