An “uninvited guest” crashed Colorado’s Ren Fest — and refused to leave without its favorite sweet treat, photos show.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office posted photos of the sticky situation to its social media accounts on Tuesday, July 9.

“Well, we can safely say that what we see at the Larkspur Ren Fest never disappoints!” the department said. “On Sunday, #DCSO deputies had to deal with an uninvited guest who, quite frankly, did not want to leave. An 80-pound black bear, one they named Smoky, ventured onto the Ren Fest property and decided to take a break under one of the buildings. Ironically it was under a building that sells honeycombs.”

Deputies moved patrons away from the area and monitored the bear until Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers arrived.

“The bear didn’t seem bothered by any of us; he even found a ball to play with while he rested,” the department said.

Photos show the bear holding a ball between his paws and nudging it around with his snout as he lies under the building.

“Smoky was safely taken out and released in a better-suited place for him, away from humans,” the department said.

Photos show a wildlife officer crawling under the building, likely to tranquilize the bear, and then show a handful of officers and deputies carrying it on a tarp.

The Colorado Renaissance Festival is a summer event that celebrates the 16th century, complete with costumes, food and music, Uncover Colorado says.

“Probably looking to score a turkey leg,” someone joked in the comments.

“You can’t fault him for not wanting to leave his ‘honey’ hole,” someone else said.

Larkspur is about a 40-mile drive south from Denver.
