A Michigan man had no idea he was the topic of discussion when he walked into a Clinton Township store.

The 43-year-old lottery player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought a Fantasy 5 lottery ticket for the May 28 drawing, according to a June 27 news release from the Michigan Lottery.

“I usually play Mega Millions and Powerball, but when I was at the store, I made a last-minute decision to purchase a Fantasy 5 ticket,” he said.

A few days later, he went back to the 7-Eleven store where he bought the ticket.

“I was at the same store and people were talking about how a big Fantasy 5 winner was sold there. I scanned my ticket, and that’s when I knew I was the big winner! The excitement in our house has been through the roof,” he told lottery officials.

The man won a $446,571 jackpot prize, lottery officials said.

The man said he plans to put some money into college funds for his children and invest.

Clinton Township is a 25-mile drive northeast from Detroit.
