A lottery winner will be celebrating his big win this fall watching the Detroit Lions from Ford Field.

But at first, the winner thought an email from Michigan Lottery officials wasn’t real.

”I immediately thought to myself: ‘This has got to be a scam,’” he told officials.

Still skeptical of the email, he called lottery officials hoping to confirm the win.

The 38-year-old won $234,333 from a random May 2 drawing, and plans to spend some of the winnings on football tickets and take a vacation, he told lottery officials.

The player earned entries into the drawing by playing BIG CA$H Second Chance Jackpot games online, officials said.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
