A Michigan man was left shocked when he learned how much his winning Powerball ticket was worth.

Jackie McCloud bought a Powerball ticket at a store in Pinconning for the May 8 drawing, according to a news release from Michigan Lottery Connect.

McCloud matched all five white balls in the drawing.

“I scanned my Powerball ticket at a store to check it and got a message to see the retailer,” McCloud told lottery officials. “I thought something was wrong with the scanner, so I took it to a different retailer. The worker looked the ticket over and told me I’d won big, but I still didn’t know how much.”

It wasn’t until he took the ticket to the lottery office that he realized just how much he won.

“I took my ticket to the Michigan Lottery office and that’s when I found out it was worth $1 million,” he said. “My whole body went numb.”

McCloud said he plans to use his winnings to travel and then save the rest.

Pinconning is about 130-mile drive north of Detroit.
