20-year-old found strangled to death, WA cops say. Former city council member arrested
A former city council member was arrested after a woman was found dead in a home, Washington officials said.
The former Bothell City Council member was arrested April 30 and was being held as a murder investigation is being conducted, according to documents obtained by McClatchy News.
Seattle police got a call from the 58-year-old man’s lawyer to report a “likely homicide,” according to documents.
The 20-year-old woman, later identified as Liliya Guyvoronsky, was found strangled to death, officials said.
Police believe Guyvoronsky had been dead for 24 hours before being found, officials said.
She was found “laying face up in a bed, fully nude, and covered by bedding,” according to documents. She was pronounced dead by firefighters.
Investigators learned Guyvoronsky was the sole legal tenant of the home, and officers found a to-do list dated April 29 that said, “Do not interact w/ (the man) today,” according to documents.
While searching the home, officers found “blood stains on the carpet throughout the bedroom, on a pillowcase and on the headboard,” officials said.
Officers didn’t specify the man’s relationship with Guyvoronsky.
The man walked out of the home with “fresh blood and dried blood on his clothing” and cuts to his wrists, officials said.
His term ended in December 2023, according to the city.
He was sent to Harborview Medical Center for his injuries before being booked in the King County Jail, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to 206-233-5000, officers said.
