‘Tell me what’s going on,’ Steve from Blue’s Clues says on TikTok — and fans get real
A character you might recognize from your childhood is checking in with fans on TikTok and creating a “full circle moment” for “grown up kids.”
Steve Burns, the actor who portrayed Steve on Nickelodeon’s “Blue’s Clues,” went to TikTok and simply said, “Hey I’m checking in. Tell me what’s going on,” according to the video that has garnered over 1.4 million views as of March. 21.
The 59-second video remains silent with Burns nodding along, until he can be heard saying “OK, alright well it’s good to hear from you. You look great.”
Comments on the video were nothing short of vulnerable, with one person saying “Life keeps handing me lemons and I don’t know how many more I can turn into lemonade. I’m tired, Steve.”
“I could use a hug, honestly,” another user wrote.
“I couldn’t even get out a word, all I did was cry lol,” someone said.
Other users referred to “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” the newly released docuseries in which Drake Bell discusses his time starring in Nickelodeon’s ”Drake & Josh” and the alleged sexual abuse brought on by Brian Peck, a child dialogue coach who was arrested on a charge of lewd acts with a child in 2003 and was later convicted and registered as a sex offender.
Other Nickelodeon members like Alexa Nikolas, who starred in ”Zoey 101,” talked about the toxic and inappropriate work environment created by former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider.
“I feel like he knew that the Nickelodeon fans needed this after the documentary came out. And this is the best response: How are you? Are you okay?,” one user wrote.
“After the Nickelodeon documentary Steve all I need is my Blue’s Clues to save whatever is left of this childhood I once had…,” one person said.
Others thanked Steve for “being one of the good parts of Nickelodeon” and hope he checks in “more often.”
“You’re the only part of my childhood that feels safe,” one user wrote.
“They need you. The kids who are grown now who watched Nickelodeon. Thanks for being here,” another person said.
