A 32-year-old man accused of killing his mom turned himself in with blood on his hands in Washington, deputies said.

Authorities got a call from a man wanting to report a crime Friday, Nov. 17, in Freeland, the Island County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

When deputies arrived, they said they found the man with dried blood on his hands and blood stains on his pants.

He told them he lived with his parents nearby and assaulted his mom, deputies said. He “described the injuries inflicted, and where he placed the weapons he used,” deputies said.

Authorities said they found his mother unresponsive with blood on the floor and on her neck in the camp trailer where she lived. She also had cuts on her chest, deputies said.

One deputy performed CPR on the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was arrested on a second-degree murder charge.

The mother’s and son’s name have not been released yet.

Freeland is about 40 miles northwest of Seattle.
