Man brags about sex acts with teen in work break room, feds say. He’s going to prison
An investigation into a Texas man began after he bragged to coworkers about engaging in sexual activity with a 16-year-old girl, according to federal authorities.
One of those coworkers reported Osbaldo Moreno, who was 20 at the time, to law enforcement. The coworker said Moreno, of Lamesa, bragged about having sex with the child in the work bathroom, break room and parking lot multiple times, according to court records.
Moreno was charged in November, records show. In February, he pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography.
Now, the 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison, according to a June 16 news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
Moreno’s defense attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment from McClatchy News on June 20.
In an October interview with investigators, Moreno waived his rights and said he wasn’t in a relationship with the girl but “communicated with (her) on a regular basis,” according to court records. He said he was once caught having sex with her at a public park, and he also said he engaged in sex acts with her the week before the interview.
The girl told authorities she met Moreno in high school and said he reached out to her via Instagram when she was 15, according to an affidavit. Moreno was 19 when they met.
She said she was no longer going to school “because of her relationship with Moreno,” authorities said. It bothered her that people were talking about her relationship with the man, and he didn’t want her to go to school because then they wouldn’t be able to engage in sexual activity.
In a review of Moreno’s multiple cellphones, investigators said they found more than 150 explicit videos and photos of the girl. She sent the images after the man demanded him, officials said.
In one message, authorities said he threatened her with rape.
“U need to chill or am going to rape u and u not going to be able to walk again,” the message obtained by authorities said, according to the news release.
The girl told authorities the man did not use protection during sexual activity because he wanted to have a baby with her, officials said.
Moreno also faces two counts of sexual assault of a child in the state of Texas, according to the release.
Lamesa is about 290 miles west of Fort Worth.
