Popeyes is growing its menu, this time with the return of a fan-favorite.

The blackened chicken sandwich is back starting June 6 and will be a mainstay on Popeyes chicken sandwich lineup at participating restaurants nationwide, according to the Miami-based chicken chain.

For $4.99, customers can get a Cajun-seasoned chicken breast filet with mayo and pickles, on a toasted brioche bun, the restaurant’s website says.

The breading-free offering debuted in 2019 and is the latest to join Popeyes’ slate of chicken sandwiches, including a classic fried version that sparked the so-called “chicken sandwich wars.”

There’s now also an option to add bacon and cheese to any sandwich, Popeyes said.

“As we expand our iconic Chicken Sandwich line-up, the Blackened Chicken Sandwich will provide guests with a lighter option that is perfect for everyday,” Sami Siddiqui, president of Popeyes, said in a news release.
