An 80-year-old man died Thursday, May 25, after being thrown from his boat on Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks, Missouri officials say.

The fatal crash was one of two incidents involving boaters Thursday in the Ozarks, the other resulting in an injury.

Missouri State Highway Patrol officers said Thomas Crain, 80, was operating a fishing boat on the Taney County lake when he lost control of the watercraft. That caused him to be ejected from the boat, officials say.

Crain, of Chadwick, was pronounced dead around 3:10 p.m., less than two hours after the incident. It’s unclear if anyone else was in the boat at the time of the crash.

Also on Thursday, an 80-year-old man and 64-year-old woman were involved in a boating incident on Lake of the Ozarks in Camden County.

Their boat “struck a large wake,” causing the woman to be thrown from her seat. She was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, and the 80-year-old boat operator was not injured, according to state highway patrol.
