Bicyclist opens fire on soccer game crowd, injuring 2, Utah cops say. Shooter sought
Two people were injured after a person on a bike opened fire at a soccer game in Utah, officials said.
Salt Lake City police responded at 7:30 p.m. on May 1 to reports of a shooting at a soccer game, according to a news release from the department.
Officers found a 21-year-old man “on the soccer field with a critical gunshot wound” who was taken to a hospital in “critical condition,” officials said.
The shooter is accused of riding up on a bicycle, according to The Salt Lake Tribune, before firing at a parked pickup truck in the field’s parking lot.
The shooter then turned toward the crowd and opened fire, police said.
At 10 p.m., police said they found a second gunshot victim in serious condition. He was taken to the hospital in “serious condition.”
That victim had “fled the park and collapsed,” according to The Salt Lake Tribune.
The shooter, whom police described as “armed and dangerous,” left the field before police arrived, according to officials.
