A freshman high school student who was fatally hit by a car had a “one-of-a-kind personality,” according to a Pennsylvania school district.

Christopher X Lucas, 15, was standing in a parking lot in Ross Township when he was struck and killed at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

A spokesperson with the Ross Police Department told McClatchy News that officers responded to the North Hills Village shopping center, where the teenager was found dead at the scene.

Pittsburgh Public Schools confirmed Lucas was a ninth grader at Allderdice High School.

“Christopher was known as an unconventionally funny young man who loved a good joke,” a district statement said. “He is remembered for his kind heart, strong will to learn, and love for drawing cartoons. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with Christopher’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

The driver is cooperating with police, authorities said. An investigation is ongoing.

Ross Township is about 10 miles north of Pittsburgh.
