A deer was shot and left to rot in Colorado. A search is on for shooter, officials say
Colorado wildlife officials are searching for a person accused of shooting a deer and leaving it to rot near a county road.
The mule deer, a buck, was shot with a rifle during the “overnight hours between Oct. 6 and 7 near the Town of Craig,” Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a Tuesday, Oct. 12, news release.
Wildlife officials found the carcass on Friday “off Moffat County Road 31, about 5 miles northwest of Craig,” according to the release.
Now, wildlife officials said they are looking to the public for help.
“If you saw something, say something,” Seth Schwolert with CPW said in the release. “We are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible.”
Anyone who observed “anything suspicious in the area of Moffat County Road 31 on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 6, through the early morning hours on Friday, Oct. 7,” is asked to contact wildlife officials at 970-706-9874.
Craig is about 200 miles northwest of Denver.
