Krispy Kreme to roll out dog-friendly treats for the first time. When you can get them
For the first time, Krispy Kreme fans will soon be able to share a sweet treat with their four-legged friends.
The new Doggie Doughnuts are set to arrive just in time for National Dog Day on Friday, Aug. 26, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based doughnut chain announced. The baked biscuit treats will be available at participating U.S. stores for a limited time starting Friday, while supplies last.
“Our dogs have given us so much love and comfort to help us through these last couple of years,” Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a news release. “They deserve this special treat.”
Pet parents can treat their pup to a six-count box of the Doggie Doughuts, available for purchase in store or at the drive-thru, according to the release. Costs will vary by location.
The hard-baked biscuits, handmade by Australian pet treat company Huds and Toke, are inspired by classic Krispy Kreme doughnuts and “designed specifically for dogs of all sizes and ages,” according to the release. Ingredients include whole wheat flour, peanut butter and chocolate substitute carob.
Though the snacks contain human-grade ingredients, they’re not suitable for human consumption, according to Krispy Kreme’s website. Refrigeration isn’t required, and the treats can last up to a year from the sell date.
