Ice cream recalled from Target stores in Florida, three other states after listeria found

One flavor of Peekaboo ice cream was recalled from Target stores in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia after manufacturer Ramar Foods found listeria in some packages.

If there’s any good news, it’s that this is one of the more specific recalls you’ll see. Not only is the flavor Organic Mint Chocolate Chip with Hidden Spinach, but the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice claims only 33 14-ounce containers were sold before the recall. Each has a best by date of 10/08/2021.

According to the CDC, listeria hits about 1,600 Americans each year, killing around 250. Most people suffer stomachaches, headaches, diarrhea and nausea. The most vulnerable to the worst effects are children under 5, senior citizens and those with damaged immune systems. Pregnant women can suffer stillbirths and miscarriages.

Customers with this ice cream can return it to the store of purchase for a refund or contact Ramar Foods by email at ramarfoods5691@stericycle.com or at 844-491-7869, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastern time.
