Man flips golf cart while driving drunk
A New Mexico man is facing charges after he took a golf cart for a spin in a suburban neighborhood — and then flipped it over.
Justin Valenzuela, 33, was arrested by the Doña Ana Sheriff’s Office Sunday when residents reported the crash to police. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered an overturned golf cart.
Valenzuela reportedly lost control of the cart and crashed into a fence, which cause the cart to flip. There were three passengers in the vehicle along with Valenzuela. One passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with a serious leg injury.
According to the sheriff’s office, Valenzuela admitted to being the driver of the golf cart and that he had consumed alcohol earlier that day.
Valenzuela faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. He was released from the county’s detention center Monday.
