Drivers should expect overnight detours on northbound Interstate 75 this month as construction crews work to build a bridge over the highway.

The detours will happen from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. starting Saturday, Aug. 24 and continue every night from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. through early September.

Drivers will be sent east on State Road 70 to Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, then north on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard to State Road 64 and west on State Road 64 to northbound Interstate 75.

The new bridge is part of the 44th Avenue East extension project, which will offer an alternate east-west route in Manatee County, which traffic engineers expect to reduce traffic on State Road 64 and State Road 70.
