Motorcycle driver dies in crash with SUV on Cortez Road in Bradenton, FHP says
A motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Cortez Road.
A 52-year-old Bradenton man died when he was unable to avoid an SUV that went into his path after a crash with a pickup truck at around 3:44 p.m. Wednesday, Florida Highway Patrol said in a press release Thursday morning.
The SUV was traveling south on 115th Street West, attempting to turn left at the intersection of Cortez Road.
The pickup, which had a trailer attached to the back, was traveling east on Cortez Road in the left lane and was approaching the intersection when the right front of the SUV hit the left rear of the pickup and the left side of the trailer, FHP said.
The crash sent the SUV into the path of the motorcycle, which was traveling west in the left lane of Cortez, approaching the intersection.
The front of the motorcycle hit the right side of the SUV, killing the 52-year-old Bradenton man.
No one else was injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
