Lanes reopen after car hits motorcycle on State Road 70 near Bradenton
The Florida Highway Patrol released more information on the car crash that closed all westbound lanes, with three eastbound lanes being blocked on State Road 70 on Thursday morning.
A 91-year-old Bradenton man driving a sedan attempted a U-turn at the intersection of SR 70 and 47th Street East from the eastbound direction, FHP said.
He hit a 76-year-old Bradenton man on a motorcycle that was approaching the intersection from the west direction, FHP said.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was sent to Blake Hospital with serious injuries.
The crash, which happened at 9:39 a.m., remains under investigation.
According to Florida Highway Patrol’s live traffic road and condition report, officers were dispatched at 10:01 a.m. on Thursday for the crash.
Traffic cameras in the area show the area is clear and all lanes are back open.
