Drivers taking the Green Bridge from Bradenton to Palmetto will need to take other routes or plan for more time on their commute Wednesday morning.

Regular updates to the bridge are requiring a temporary northbound lane closure on U.S. 41 or 8th Avenue West, according to a Florida Department of Transportation news release.

The Green Bridge is a major route during rush hour for morning and afternoon commuters.

The annual Bradenton Area River Regatta, which returned in 2022 following a COVID-19 pandemic hiatus, causes a complete closure of the bridge for vehicles, leaving it open to spectators to catch the action unfolding below on the Manatee River.
