Drivers can expect a road closure this week near the Ellenton Premium Outlets near Interstate 75 and U.S. 301.

On Monday, May 22, through Thursday, May 25, 60th Street E will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Businesses will still be accessible via 18th Street E, and drivers will be able to access U.S. 301 via the intersection at 18th Street E.

The closures are for a construction project that will widen I-75 from State Road 64 to the Manatee River, reshaping the I-75 to U.S. 301 interchange from what Manatee County’s website describes as a “partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration.”

The project also intends to construct new bridges over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, as well as various other U.S. 301 improvements.

In early May, I-75 northbound saw single-lane closures as crews worked on resurfacing I-75, U.S. 301 roadwork, and pile driving for the building of a new southbound on-ramp bridge over the Manatee River and Salt Marsh Bridge.

The Florida Department of Transportation urges all drivers to exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles in the area and to obey all detour signs posted.
