28-year-old Palmetto man dies in crash near US 301, Florida troopers say

A 28-year-old man from Palmetto died in a single-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol said.

It happened at 2:55 p.m. Monday at Erie Road and U.S. 301.

He was driving a sedan south on Erie Road when he crossed the centerline, went off the road and hit two large concrete pipes.

The man was flown a hospital with critical injuries, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
