Interstate 75 off-ramp to close overnight at US 301 in Manatee County, FDOT says
The Interstate 75 southbound off-ramp to U.S. 301 (Exit 224) in Manatee County will close on Thursday night into Friday morning, the Florida Department of Transportation said Thursday.
The closure will allow FDOT to work on the construction of a new southbound on-ramp bridge over the Manatee River and the Salt Marsh Bridge.
Crews have been working on the embankment and widening of I-75, as well as pile driving for the new on-ramp, since Wednesday.
The off-ramp will close from 11 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday, March 10, according to an email from Brian Bollas, FDOT community outreach manager.
Drivers are advised to follow the detour signs or take another route.
According to FDOT’s District One Road Watch Report, released on March 3, drivers should anticipate a number of lane closures and shifts during the construction of the new southbound on-ramp until its completion.
The estimated completion is early 2025.
However, the report did not provide specific dates for the lane closures and shifts.
The following are the times, locations and what drivers should expect throughout the duration of the ramp construction:
- Single-lane closures on I-75 northbound during the night and overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Double-lane closure on I-75 southbound during the night and overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Double-lane closures on I-75 northbound during the night and overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Double-lane closures on I-75 southbound during the night and overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Lane closures on Tidewater Preserve Boulevard
- Lane shifts on I-75 and U.S. 301
Drivers should use caution while construction is underway and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate.
Signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway, the report said.
