20-year-old dies after being thrown from his car in crash on US 41 in Palmetto
A 20-year-old man died in a car crash in Palmetto on Tuesday evening after being thrown from his vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a press release.
At around 5:44 p.m. Tuesday, troopers were dispatched to U.S. 41 and 37th Street Court East in Palmetto.
The man was driving north on U.S. 41 in the left lane, approaching 37th Street Court East and the entry ramp to U.S. 41 Business Route, when he lost control of his sedan.
The release said he then drove into the right lane and into the grass.
The man’s car spun and flipped onto the U.S. 41 Business Route entrance ramp, hitting another vehicle in its left rear side.
His body was thrown from his vehicle, and he sustained critical injuries.
He was taken to the hospital, where he later died, the release said.
The crash remains under investigation.
