Arcadia man killed, others injured in crash on country road in Myakka City, FHP says

One person was killed and two others were seriously injured when two vans crashed in east Manatee County on Thursday afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The wreck happened at 2:04 p.m. on County Road 675 East, a two-lane country road in the Myakka City area.

Troopers say a 45-year-old Bradenton man was driving a van north on C.R. 675, south of 49th Avenue East; an 81-year-old Arcadia man was driving a van south on the roadway, with a 39-year-old Arcadia man in a passenger’s seat.

As the vehicles approached each other, the Bradenton man’s van crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane of the road. The two vans collided head on, traffic investigators say.

The 81-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release said.

The Bradenton man and the 39-year-old Arcadia man were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remained under investigation as of Thursday night.
