1 dead, 1 injured after fatal vehicle crash on Cortez Road, troopers say
One person died and at least one other person was injured in a vehicle accident along Cortez Road Friday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson.
Troopers responded to the intersection of Cortez Road and Seventh Street, near the Sarasota Bay RV Park, around 2:30 p.m.
The crash, which involved two vehicles, blocked one eastbound lane on Cortez Road.
The identity of the deceased has not been released to the public.
One crash victim was taken to Blake Hospital as a trauma alert, Senior Trooper Kenneth Watson said.
As of 3:15 p.m., troopers are still investigating the crash.
Watson said more information will be released later Friday afternoon.
